NYAA Launches.
The New York Apartment Association launched today. NYAA is the new entity after a merger between the Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP) and the Rent Stabilization Association (RSA). We are excited to begin working together toward better housing policies in New York. As part of the launch, we have also launched a new website, housingny.org, and a new Substack newsletter, where the daily update will be posted and emailed. Our social media channels have been rebranded or changed to reflect the new organization as well. You can read some of the media coverage about the launch here and we will share more articles as they are published.

Please bear with us as we transition everything and notify us if there are any issues or glitches. If you have any questions or feedback, please reach out to the NYAA office at info@housingny.org or call 212-214-9200.
Membership Meeting.
Join us for our monthly membership meeting on Wednesday, September 25th at 2:00 p.m. We will be hosting this meeting in-person at our office at 123 William Street, 12th Floor. After a busy summer, we will bring our members up-to-speed on all the latest news and updates in the housing industry.
Please call (212) 214-9243, or send an email to register. As a reminder, our boardroom has limited seating, so it is important to register as soon as possible to ensure that you can attend.
Deadline: 421-a Extension.
The deadline to file a Letter of Intent with the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) to qualify for a completion date extension for 421-a projects is September 12. If the application is approved, the extension will go through June 15, 2031. Without the extension, projects must be completed by June 15, 2026 in order to get the 421-a tax break. Fewer applications for extensions have been filed with HPD than expected.
