NYAA Announces Hiring of Woody Pascal
Pascal brings years of housing and government expertise to NYAA to help property owners better run their buildings
(New York, NY) – The New York Apartment Association has hired Woody Pascal to be its new Senior Vice President. Pascal has decades of experience in leadership at the Division of Housing and Community Renewal.
Pascal was the longest serving Deputy Commissioner of the Office of Rent Administration (ORA). During his 16 years leading ORA he was instrumental in helping both property owners and renters understand the rapidly changing housing regulations.
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic he was an invaluable resource to apartment building owners who were adjusting to rapidly shifting protocols and regulations. Earlier in his career, he led the replacement of ORA’s 40-year old Historical Update and Tracking System, implementing a new state-of-art digital system. As Deputy Commissioner he also spearheaded the launch of NYS Rent Connect, a new online tool to help tenants and owners to quickly access the information they need.
“Our members own and operate highly regulated buildings. In order to run them more efficiently and effectively, we need experts to advise them on how to navigate the ever-changing regulations and remain in compliance with the laws. There is nobody more qualified to do this than Woody Pascal. We are excited to have him as part of our team,” said NYAA CEO Kenny Burgos.
“We are in a housing crisis and the only way out of it is to build large coalitions of stakeholders and develop solutions that work for everyone. I am excited to join the NYAA team, to help property owners understand and comply with the complex laws, and organize the pro-housing voices in the state towards better housing policy,” said Pascal.
Mr. Pascal is a founding member of the Haitian Roundtable (HRT), which is an organization of Haitian-American professionals who are committed to civic engagement and philanthropic endeavors benefiting Haiti and Haitian causes. It was founded in 2008 and is based in New York.
